Los Angeles County Workforce Investment Board/WorkSource California
Client
The Los Angeles County Workforce Investment Board oversees a system of one-stop workforce centers.
Challenge
The county needed to create one face and one voice from 48 disparate one-stop workforce centers to raise awareness and increase use of their tools and services.
Enter Reingold
Together with the county, we created WorkSource California—in effect, a new franchise—through an integrated, multidimensional branding, marketing, and advertising campaign targeting both employers and job-seekers. Central to this effort were our "Dare to Dream" ads for print, radio, transit, and billboards that we created and placed throughout the 4,000-square-mile county. Featuring ordinary people of various ethnicities standing before a black and white dreamscape, the ads evoke possibility in a multicolored floating sphere. And our savvy media negotiations netted more than $460,000 in value add placements.
Results
After just three months of the public awareness campaign, WorkSource California saw a 350 percent increase in the number of visitors to its website; the number of calls and volume of traffic at WorkSource California call centers shot up; and an independent evaluation showed that our advertising generated an 11 percent new-brand awareness among businesses and career seekers. As a result, the campaign earned the American Marketing Association's prestigious "M Award" for efficacy in government marketing.
